Student's Stories

My name is Yusuf Ibrahim Mohammed, and my Chinese name is 胡扬. I am from Ethiopia. I am  a student of Beibu Gulf University, majoring in mechanical engineering (ME-172). I am the director of Mechanical Engineering Student Union and the director of Lifestyle Management Department for International Students.

I have volunteered and taken part in many activities from our university every year.

I took part in an interesting class session whereby students had the opportunity to make pottery vessels at the Qinzhou museum with my classmates and have acquired unique skills in molding clay and designing vessels such a cup, jars, tea pots etc.

In 2018

In this year, I spent the most valuable and memorable time in the campus and out of campus. It made me see things in a different perspective and since then I have started thinking out of box and became more sociable and friendly with the environment.

I have taken part in ONE BELT ONE ROAD INNITATIVE TRAINING held in our campus here in Beibu Gulf University. During the training, I learned a lot about the marine life and its preservation, aquaculture and Chinese microalgal industry alliance (CMIA).

I also took part in the 11th Track and Field Sports Meeting of Beibu Gulf University (400M) and I won it.

         During the BRICS competition, I achieved a lot of knowledge in my life and took one step forward in my life. Thanks to the teachers and my team members, I was able to achieve a lot and win prizes. I learnt the importance of unity, team work and cooperation throughout the competitions I undertook.

        In 2018 and 2019, I participated in multiple cultural events in the school and out the school and received honorary gifts together with certificates.  

        I also participated in the New year’s party and New year’s gala of the College of International Studies and it was awesome. I really enjoyed being part of those who volunteered to make my fellow students campus life memorable.

VOICE OF STUDENT

I believe everyone will agree with me that this year 2020 has been a year full of surprises, full of unexpected events globally and it has been tough for everyone. Our University staff worked hard throughout this year to keep all the students safe, helping us by providing assistance to those who were in need and been attentive to our everyday health issues or statuses. So far this has been the most surprising thing to me and I would hereby like to appreciate everyone who has been supporting and guiding us, those who have been with us throughout this tough year most especially the department of College of International Studies and the College of Marine and Mechanical Engineering. The afore mentioned colleges really worked hard to ensure our safety and wellbeing and as such I hereby make my gratitude known to them. I would like to appreciate all what the leaders have done and including my head teacher and the dean of international students.

Although I had a great time and lot of fun throughout the years, I never, not even for a minute, forgot my reason for coming to this university which is to study and as such was the mission my goal has always been the same, always working hard because we know that hard work pays well and hard work goes hand in hand with success.

Last but not the least, I would like to say a great “Thank You” to all my teachers, classmates and ISA members for all they’ve done for me and for all we’ve been through they are like a family to me. They made my staying and studying here unforgettable.
